Let He Without Sin...

"In fewer than 1 in 10 cases of sexual or gender-based violence the perpetrator is charged." (UNIFEM) 1 in 10 and those are reported cases of violence. Less than 1 in 10.

I was reading a story today from Amnesty International that a 13 year old girl was stoned to death this week, in-front of 1,000 spectators. The girl was...accused of adultery.

A 13 year old girl was murdered this week for adultery.

AI was told the girl was actually raped by three men and she tried to file charges. "It was this act that resulted in her being accused of adultery and detained. None of men she accused of rape were arrested."

I am speechless as to how this has been allowed to happen. Where is the public outcry for this girl? Where is the public outcry against Somalia for allowing this? WHERE IS HER JUSTICE? This goes beyond what a culture deems ok, it goes to the core of how a society sees woman, and little girls and its ability to dispense justice.

How can a 13 year old commit adultery? She's not married (right?) or is it because one of the men who raped her was married that she's the one who committed the crime?

And why is the man never held accountable? Why were none of the men who raped her arrested (much less stoned too)?

This whole thing is just heartbreaking.
