No International Adoption

The NY Times recently did a slide show about the changing attitude towards orphans in the Sudan.

A key thing to note: the answer to their growing orphan population is not international adoption.

It is a mix of changing attitudes about orphans, and passing laws to help those who want to care for them. It is looking at a marginalized member of society and realizing that helping them helps everyone else. It's not allowing the international community to rob a country of their youth, their next generation, or huddling them into neglected orphanages, but helping families take care of the children and making sure they are treated as best they can be.
